With a heart of gold and an infectious, radiant spirit, Sunny truly lights up every room she enters, leaving a trail of happiness and warmth wherever she goes. Despite her full-time job, Sunny continues to shine bright for our community, embodying the true spirit of service and kindness.
For the past four years, Sunny has volunteered at Night to Shine, the prom for individuals with special needs sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Her infectious enthusiasm and compassion ensure that every guest feels celebrated, creating unforgettable memories. This is just one example of her dedication to spreading joy and empowering the special needs community.
Sunny’s impact extends to organizations like Gabi's Powered by Special Abilities, where she has played a key role in fundraising and raising awareness for this transformative program. She has also partnered with Esteemed Coffee in Cary, supporting local businesses and initiatives that prioritize inclusivity and community.
Sunny has also shared her time and shine with Community Workforce Solutions, where she danced, delighted, and dazzled adults with special needs, bringing joy and positivity to their lives. She has also supported their annual fundraiser, demonstrating her commitment to raising awareness and funds for such an important cause.
Sunny has also volunteered for two years at the annual North Carolina Down Syndrome Buddy Walk in Holly Springs, where she brought her magic to this meaningful event, raising awareness and supporting the Down syndrome community.
Sunny has also volunteered and shared her joy with children and families at Marbles Kids Museum, where she delighted in playing with children and creating magical memories during events like Kooky Spooky, Spooktacular, Evening with Elves, and two full days at Fairytale Tea. Her infectious smile and warm hugs added a special touch to these beloved community events, making them even more magical and unforgettable for all those who participated.
As a community sponsor, Sunny has supported Shop Local Raleigh, Thrive Motherhood, and The Bunny Hive Raleigh, and has collaborated with the Junior League of Raleigh for their annual Touch-a-Truck fundraiser, Easter Seals during their Glow Run in New Bern, and the American Cancer Society during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Additionally, she has volunteered at The Ronald McDonald House in Durham during their Trunk or Treat event, brightening the lives of families being treated at Duke Hospital during Halloween.
Sunny is passionate about supporting mental health awareness. She loved participating in the Annual Walk for Hope at The Angus Barn, where she helped raise suicide awareness and fostered a sense of hope and healing within the community.
Another of Sunny’s cherished causes is supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer. She has raised awareness for the Be the Rainbow Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping children and families impacted by this difficult journey. Through her fundraising efforts and joyful presence, Sunny has provided much-needed support and comfort to families facing these challenges.
Sunny was proud to support the annual Trophy Trot, a 5k fundraiser on Thanksgiving morning hosted by Trophy Brewing at Dix Park. Donning her wings, she brought her joyful spirit to the event, which raised over $40k for Healing Transitions, helping individuals who are recovering from addiction rebuild their lives. Sunny’s participation in this event showcased her dedication to supporting causes that help people heal and grow.
As a fairy, Sunny is deeply connected to nature and has a special love for plants, trees, flowers, dragonflies, and butterflies. Her appreciation for the environment shines through in her enthusiastic support of Arbor Day and Earth Day at Dix Park, where she has helped celebrate these important days by engaging children and families in activities that foster environmental awareness and a love for the natural world.
Sunny also championed NC Nature School and their programs by delighting children at Gratitude Fest at Haven Farm, where she helped bring smiles to their faces and inspired them to connect with nature through fun and educational experiences.
Sunny has shared her joy with families at the Fairy Fun Tea Party through the Town of Wake Forest and as a special guest at the Sanford Tea Room in Sanford, NC. She’s flown to Knightdale, NC to spread her cheer at Haven Farm during their annual Easter Egg Hunt and other special events, delighting families with her whimsical presence. At Grasshopper Farms in Knightdale, Sunny has read stories, played games, and enchanted children, bringing joy to all in attendance.
Sunny loves celebrating with children and their families in downtown Raleigh, where she has brought her joy and sparkle to Moore Square, Fred Fletcher Park, Mordecai Park and Pullen Park. Whether it’s through impromptu play, games, or reading stories, Sunny creates moments of pure joy, connecting families and fostering a sense of community in some of Raleigh’s most cherished outdoor spaces.
One of her most heartwarming moments was holding hands with children during the NC Child’s Field Day in Raleigh, where she participated in field day races, played games, and shared her love of coloring and blowing bubbles with the children. Sunny’s contagious energy and presence at this event were a true embodiment of the joy and inclusivity she strives to spread. Sunny's love for community has led her to partner with Wake County Libraries, where she was a featured fairy during a “Fairy Special” event. Children danced, sang, wiggled and giggled with Sunny. They also loved when Sunny read from her own one-of -kind storybook, Sprinkling Seeds of Perpetual Joy. Her heartwarming, charming and unique story connects her closely with young readers as she spreads her message of joy and positivity as she “flies” through Raleigh visiting her favorite places.
The impact of Sunny's bright mission is brighter than the sun! Countless energy, divine passion, and a deep love for people fuel her flight—bringing light and joy wherever she goes. Sunny’s extraordinary contributions have been celebrated in the Summer 2024 edition of Raleigh Magazine, where she was honored for her flight and celebrated for her unique passion. She has also shared her story on Big Pixel's podcast and "5 Flavors of Happiness" podcast, inspiring others to embrace kindness, inclusion, and the joy of giving back.
